I went to Blue Bamboo on Southside last Saturday. They serve contemporary Asian food and have a small wine lounge in the back of the restaurant. I love the idea of it -- they feature a different country every month and integrate some of its cuisine and ingredients into their menu. I didn't really eat enough of the food to get a good perspective on it. (Read this Times Union article for more info on the food.) We had the Hoisin Chicken Mee Krob Lettuce Wraps, which had a chicken to onion ration of about 1:5. For dinner I just ate an appetizer, the Tamatem Ma'Amrine Crab-Topped Tomatoes, which were a little bland. But I definitely want to go back again. Especially next month, when they feature Cuban ingredients.
What they don't mention on their website is their cooking classes:
One Saturday morning each month we invite you into our professional kitchen for a one of a kind dining experience. For $35 enjoy a cooking class, lunch, and a glass of wine:
Moroccan - July 21st
Cuban - August 11th.
